Sometimes these judges know what they’re talking about

A federal judge has barred suburban Township High School District 214 from participating in the ridiculous moment of silence law following a request by atheist activist, and district parent, Rob Sherman.
The state legislature passed the measure earlier this year, Gov. Rod Blagojevich vetoed it, and this fall the legislature overrode Rod’s veto. But I have a feeling this judge is going to be just one of several that will point out its illegality.
Tribune columnist Eric Zorn says the legislature should simply drop the law. Not sure how difficult that would be, but it seems like a helluva good idea.
